Learn the basics of hand lettering with designer and lettering artist Adam Vicarel. This workshop is for people interested in the basics as well as those who have been lettering for years. @adamvicarel will go over the fundamentals of drawing letter forms, speak to the differences of lettering and calligraphy, as well as share his process for conceptualizing, designing, and lettering words. On Wednesday we have a sold out workshop with lettering artist and author Jessica Hische. We are excited to welcome @jessicahische back in town. She’s also a participating artist in 26–A Lettering Show happening in our HQ @tillamookst on 4/19. Come on by and grab a print, they’re only $20!
We’ll also have live silk screening and tacos on a bike with @tacopedalerpdx

Thinking back on the very first Design Week and our little project Put A Bird In It. We named it that to poke fun at Portlandia. Designers and artists are much smarter than just putting birds on things, and these bird houses really showcased that. Put A Bird In It had a five year run, and raised about $50k, and each year we had 100 birdhouses submitted. Since then we’ve done a Pin Show and now this year a Lettering Show to celebrate @designweekpdx We can’t thank the community enough for their support in helping us raise money for arts education. Come down to @tillamookst for one of the hottest lettering shows on the west coast! 26, features 26 lettering artists from around the world. We’ve silkscreened 40 prints from each artist and they are only $20 a piece!!!! Doors open at 5, prints go on sale at 6pm. All funds benefit arts education, what could be better than that?! We know it says sold out on the @designweekpdx site, but we’ll be letting people in all night, until 9pm.
