WORKSHOP / ART DECO TYPE
with keynote speaker Nicholas Misani

Learn the ins and outs of historical lettering design with a focus on Art Deco typography. Popular in the 1920s and 30s, Art Deco embodied glamour, luxury, exuberance, and technology. During this three hour class, Nick will share methods for creating lettering evocative of that time. Topics will include uppercase letterforms, ligatures, scripts, ornamentation, and patterns. All materials included.

Her books maybe closed, but she’s willing to share some trade secrets with a look into her process of creating in the most minuscule way. Guest will be treated to a collection of her drawings and other works of art, along with teaching techniques in nail artistry. The workshop is three hours long with all materials included.

ABOUT ELLI/ Ellie Lume is a maker & a teacher and owner of Klum House, a collaborative sewing studio & creative education space in Portland. Ellie been a professional bag maker for 18 years originally with RE Load Bags, a custom messenger bag brand she co-founded in 1998. From RE bloomed the idea for Klum where Ellie curates fun, educational, and empowering experiences that encourage people to be adventurous with their creativity. Through hands-on skill-building workshops, she encourages and inspires people to make their ideas a reality, whether that takes the form of handmade products or a creative business. We are also super thrilled to have Klum as our bag maker for this years conference!
